Music tourism generates billions in revenue across the globe, providing economic and cultural benefits from small rural communities to major cities. However, despite the many areas where the sectors converge, direct and strategic cooperation is still relatively rare.

Through events, workshops, videos and articles, Music Tourist facilitates connections between the many areas of the music and tourism industries, creating opportunities for closer collaboration and partnerships.

In November 2016, the company hosted the world’s first music tourism summit in partnership with Scottish Enterprise, Glasgow City Marketing Bureau and the Scottish Music Industry Association.  The event presented a series of case studies including representatives from IcelandairHamburg MarketingNordic Choice Hotels, the Full Metal Cruise(ICE Festival Service), the Found In Music consultancy and Caledonia Worldwide.  This was combined with workshops, a series of networking activities and a music tour.

The company has also partnered with Tourism South Australia, the City of Adelaideand Arts South Australia to host a workshop and a series of presentations.

Music Tourist is working with  Newcastle University on research aimed at establishing more effective links between the sectors.
